Levels of Participation

Vassar Temple acknowledges the generous outpouring of financial support for the Eternal Torah project from congregants and local contributors as well as far-flung supporters — people who have connections to and fond memories of the Temple — and charitable grants. In addition to covering the cost of restoration, donations will permit the establishment of a fund to provide for maintenance of the scrolls in perpetuity.

Lou Lewis, a local attorney and long-time member of Vassar Temple, is chairing the overall project. He observed that “the Torah is the central motif of Jewish life. This project hopes not only to repair the physical Torah but also to increase that sense of its centrality and spirituality for all who come in contact with this sacred core of our ancient tradition.”

One of the goals of Eternal Torah: Restoring Vassar Temple's Scrolls is to enable and encourage each of our members, and as many others as possible, to participate in the project in a meaningful and memorable way. The various levels of financial participation are outlined below. Your donation can be in the form of a dedication of a word, verse, story or portion of the Torah which is particularly meaningful to you, and/or it can be dedicated in honor or in memory of a loved one or to commemorate a special event.

To discuss your family's contribution to the Eternal Torah project, email your request for information about making a donation to EternalTorah@vassartemple.org. You will receive a prompt reply. If you prefer to be called, please include your telephone number and suggested time to reach you in your email message.
