A
Million Voices for Darfur
..............”What
if instead of mourning a genocide, we could stop one...
................... ...................... ........and
what will history say about us if we don't?”
My
appreciation of all of you who have acted on behalf of the
victims in Darfur…..I offer it as the only reward you
may receive for your efforts. There has been little, if any,
feedback for your calls and e-mails – other than the
polite, rehearsed lines of White House interns, or those self-aggrandizing
form letters from your governmental representatives.
Nevertheless…..you have become
part of the world’s moral conscience, in an age when humanitarian
crises abound.
The genocidal violence in Darfur has
intensified and spread to Sudan’s neighbors, Chad and the
Central African Republic. The Sudanese-backed Janjaweed continue
to murder, torture, rape and enslave black farming families.
The 7,000 African Union troops, trying heroically to protect
these families, are falling apart without support from
the world community….and in spite of the U.N.’s
recent efforts.
Please…..Stand and speak
out once again.
The Genocide Intervention Network (of
the Save Darfur Coalition) has “graded” our congressional
representatives unsparingly throughout the U.S. Senators Hillary
Clinton (202-224-4451) and Charles Schumer (202-224-6542) have
each merited an A+.
Please request that a NATO force be
sent to the region dominated by the brutal Janjaweed. Why NATO
(the North Atlantic Treaty Organization)? Genocidal leaders have
shown, time and time again, that they are unimpressed by international
opinion and U.N. diplomacy. The newly created 25,000- member
NATO Response Force can deploy in five days. It can apply
force to decimate the Janjaweed militias, secure the refugee
camps, and eventually enable the U.N. peacekeepers to do their
work.
Please, stand and speak out, once again. If you do not
agree with my ideas, please express yours.
Thank you.
