Driving directions: After driving through
the Main Gate of Vassar College from Raymond Avenue, turn
right at the second stop sign in front of Main Building. At
the next stop sign turn left and then make an immediate
right. Tthe Vogelstein Center for Drama and Film
will be on your left and Mudd Chemistry Building will be
on your right. Proceed around the bend and down the
hill. At the base of the hill, Sunset Lake will be
on your right. Cross over the bridge and park either
along the road or in the gravel area on your left. |
SPECIAL
SELICHOT EVENING ON SEPTEMBER 20th
The official
celebration of of our congregation’s
160 years of worship and service will begin on the evening
of Selichot, Saturday, September 20th, at 7:30
p.m. in the Social Hall. After a festive dessert
buffet, the Rabbi Stephen Arnold Award for 2008 will be
presented to Diane Browne-Sterdt in appreciation of her
contributions to the religious life of our congregation.
The featured
speaker of the evening will be Rabbi Daniel Freelander,
Vice President of the Union for Reform Judaism. Having served for ten years
as the Director of the Union’s New Jersey-West Hudson
Valley Council, Rabbi Freelander has also been the URJ’s
Director of Program, associate director of the North American
Federation of Temple Youth, and executive editor of Reform
Judaism magazine. A gifted musician and a warm and
engaging speaker, he lectures widely on trends in Jewish
music and worship.
